How ETL Handles Your Information
Last updated: July 2026
This Privacy Statement describes how the Emerging Technologies Laboratory ("ETL," "we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information across our websites, AI agents, interactive features, and membership services.
This notice applies to all ETL digital properties, including the ETL campus, agent interactions, members-only areas, and experimental features.
1. Information We Collect
A. When you visit the site or interact with an ETL agent (no account required)
We collect:
- A randomly generated visitor identifier stored in your browser. This identifier is not your name and is not linked to your identity unless you voluntarily provide identifying information in conversation.
- The content you submit to an agent so the agent can respond and maintain continuity. Agents retain limited memory such as first names, preferences, and relationship details you choose to share. Full transcripts are not stored.
B. When you create an account or complete a purchase
We collect:
- Your name and email address
- Payment information processed by Stripe. ETL does not store or retain your card details.
C. When you use members-only or experimental interactive features
Certain features may involve more personal or emotionally candid input. Before you participate, you will receive a feature-specific notice describing:
- What additional information is collected
- How that information is used
- Whether any portion is part of an approved research study
- Your choices, including the ability to opt out of research use while still accessing the feature
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide agent responses and maintain continuity across visits
- Manage accounts, memberships, and payments
- Improve site functionality, agent performance, and user experience
- Maintain platform integrity, including limiting access for repeated abusive behavior toward agents
We do not sell personal information or share it with advertisers.
3. Disclosure of Information to Service Providers
We share information only with service providers necessary for ETL operations:
- Anthropic — generates agent responses
- ElevenLabs — generates spoken audio
- Stripe — processes payments
- Supabase — stores account, membership, and agent-memory data
These providers act on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
4. Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Request deletion of an agent's stored memory about you
- Request access to the information associated with your account
- Request correction of inaccurate information
To submit a request, contact us at drterryoroszi@emerging-tech-lab.com.
5. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, but we work to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
6. Children's Privacy
Some ETL programs, including the Prep Room and youth initiatives associated with the Gandhi-King Center, may involve users under 18.
Before any youth program collects personal information, ETL will implement:
- A dedicated youth privacy policy
- Age-verification or parental-consent mechanisms
- Compliance with COPPA and other applicable laws
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval if data is used for research
If you believe a minor has provided information without appropriate consent, contact us at drterryoroszi@emerging-tech-lab.com.
7. Research Use (If Applicable)
Certain ETL features may be part of approved research studies. Research participation is:
- Voluntary
- De-identified
- Disclosed clearly before participation
You may opt out of research use and still access the feature.
8. Changes to This Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement periodically. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and provide notice of material changes.
